Sikkim Regional Centre of the Institute organized a ‘Scoping Workshop to Synergies efforts for Co-creation and Networking Knowledge’.

Workshop was conducted under chairmanship of Prof. Sunil Nautiyal (Director of the Institute) and Prof. Asish Sharma ( Vice-Chancellor, Khangchendzonga State University-Sikkim) was the Chief Guest for the workshop.

GBPNIHE was established in 1988, the birth centenary year of Bharat Ratna Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant as an autonomous Institute of the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Govt. of India. The R&D activities of the Institute are multi-disciplinary in nature and revolve around 4 thematic centre namely Centre for Land & Water Resource Management, Centre for Biodiversity Consveration and Management, Centre for Socio Economic Development & Centre for Environmental Assessment & Climate Change and executed in a decentralized manner through its HQs(Kosi-Katarmal, Almora, Uttarakhand), and five regional centre, viz., Northeast RC (Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh), Sikkim RC (Pangthang, Sikkim), Garhwal RC (Srinagar Garhwal), Himachal RC (Mohal-Kullu, H.P.), Ladakh RC (Ladakh-Leh,UT) spread across the IHR, and a Mountain Division that functions from MoEF&CC, New Delhi

North-East Regional Centre

North-East Centre established was set up in the year 1989 and started functioning from Chuchuyimlang, Mokokchung in Nagaland. In 1997, the Unit was shifted to Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh and since then, the Unit has been meaningfully contributing to the cause of conservation and development of the entire NE region, which is known for its rich diversity, be it biological, socio-cultural, linguistic or ethnic.
